PUPPY KINDERGARTEN
For puppies up to six months of age

You and your new puppy will learn the basics including: How to communicate with your puppy by rewarding good behaviors, important skills such as sit, down, come, stay, pay attention, settle and how to walk on a loose leash. Distractions will be minimal, as we work to focus on teaching you and your puppy new important skills. We will also address household management, how to encourage good behavior and any questions you may have. Lastly, every session will end with supervised puppy play where we will help you decode your puppy’s language so that you can better read your puppy’s emotions and respond in a helpful way.

DISTRACTIONS: Low

BEGINNER OBEDIENCE
For dogs over 6 months of age
 
This class is for dogs who over 6 months of age who need basic obedience training. Distractions will be kept at a very low level, as we work to teach you and your dog important new skills. You will learn how to communicate with your dog by marking and rewarding good behaviors, important commands such as sit, down, come, stay, pay attention, settle and loose-leash walking. We will teach you how to help your dog pay attention to you and how to encourage good behaviors. We will also address socialization for dogs older than 6 months, safe and effective ways to exercise your dog and how to address common household management issues.

PRE-REQUISITES: Puppy K, Basic Obedience or strong established training skills

DISTRACTIONS: Moderate to High

ADVANCED OBEDIENCE

Advanced Obedience will help get you and your dog ready for real life! The dogs work in close proximity to one another, both indoors and outside (weather permitting) performing basic and more advanced (e.g. “Leave it”, “Settle”) in varied and highly distracting environments. Our spacious facility allows and access to a small town center and dog-friendly trails allows us to tailor the level of distraction to your dog’s ability. Every class is slightly different with new challenges. It is a class that can be repeated to ensure that your dog is ready for almost any situation.

DISTRACTIONS: Very High

TAILS ON THE TRAIL

This is THE BEST class! You will begin each class at our training center and then head out on the beautiful Lincoln trails with LOTS of treats, a leash and a 15-foot lead. We will practice everything! Getting your dogs calm and focused in our training center, walking through Lincoln’s downtown on leash and then practicing recall after recall on long leads out on the trails. Once the group is ready, we will practice recall after recall while the dogs (and all participants) enjoy the trail. If you are interested in this class, please contact Meghan for a short interview to make sure that you and your dog are ready!

PRE-REQUISITES: No formal requirements, but dog must have basic obedience skills and be able to work around other dogs

WAG IT GAMES™

WAG IT GAMES™ is a super fun class for dogs and people. It combines elements of agility, nose work and tricks in a fun, relaxed pet-dog format. You and your dog will enjoy navigating agility equipment, sniffing out hidden treats and learning new tricks. This is a great class to take after Graduate Puppy 1, if you are potentially interested in agility or nose work for your dog or if you just want to have some fun. Meghan Lytton is a licensed WAG-IT™ instructor.

CANINE GOOD CITIZEN (CGC)™

CGC is a ten-skill training program that’s open to all dogs–purebred and mixed breed–that focuses on teaching the basics of good manners and obedience, instilling the values of responsible ownership, and strengthening the bond between you and your dog at home and out in the community. Example skills include greeting a friendly stranger, ignoring other dogs on a leash, coming when called and walking through a crowd. After mastering the ten skills, passing the CGC test together, and taking the Responsible Dog Ownership pledge, you and your pup will join the proud ranks of over 1 million dogs who have earned their Canine Good Citizen award.

Sweet Dog

PRE-REQUISITES: Discussion with and approval by instructor

"GROWLIES" CLASS

 

Lincoln Dog Training’s “Growlies” class is a smaller class, specifically designed for those dogs with dog reactivity and aggression. This is a smaller 4-person class created to ensure that your dog gets the attention required and remains safe. We generally accept dogs who pull, lunge and/or growl at other dogs. The class is conducted by Meghan Lytton, CPDT-KA, who has completed the most comprehensive aggressive dog training program available to trainers, Mike Shikashio’s “Aggression in Dogs, Master Course”
