Addressing Behavioral Issues

I specialize in the treatment of behavioral conditions such as aggression, resource guarding, reactivity, anxiety, compulsive disorders, and phobias.
I will evaluate your dog and provide a detailed training plan that will get you and your dog on the right track.

I strongly encourage a mininum of one follow-up visit to ensure that we are on the right track and to make any modifications.
I help with problems including:

Leash reactivity

Fears of dogs, people and/or cars
-
Dog-dog aggression
-
People-directed aggression

What will we Consider?
These are just a few examples of what we will explore and address.
You

-
Are you doing your best to motivate your dog to change their behavior (food, play, affection, praise)?
-
Are you giving your dog enough time to recover from stressful events?

-
Are you communicating clearly with your dog about what they should and should not do?

-
Does your dog have appropriate outlets to express their instincts? (exercise, outdoors, freedom). Is there enough diversity in these activities?

-
Does your dog have enough structure and predicability in their life?

Your Dog

-
Is your dog's breed pre-wired for specific behaviors (e.g. anxiety, sensitivity) that we need to consider?

-
Is there something in your dog's history that is triggering feelings of fear?

-
Have all medical concerns been ruled out that may be contributing to your dog's behavior?

-
Has your dog built up enough stress tolerance over time for what you are asking them to do?

-
Does your dog know that he has agency and can change outcomes?

-
Is your dog lacking any basic skills (e.g. attention to you, impulse control) potentially preventing him from ceasing problem behaviors?
